The Whimsical Room
Is this our favourite room-and why ‘whimsical’? The dictionary definition says 'playfully quaint or fanciful, especially in an appealing way'; it was named after friends came to stay and first used the word; we have adopted the moniker.
‘Whimsical’ is a light and airy double aspect room with a view of the Firth of Clyde to the east and the forested Torran Loisgte to the South (Gaelic scorched craggy hill; an ancient iron age fort sits near its crest and the hill is formed from igneous rocks dating from the opening of the Atlantic 60million years ago).
The bedroom is equipped with a super king-sized Hypnos bed which can also be made up as twin beds as required.
To make the most of the light it has been decorated with a combination of Farrow and Ball’s ‘Shadow White’ and ‘Light Blue’ in the main bedroom and ‘Down Pipe’ in the adjoining en-suite bathroom. Whimsical has been set up to be entirely self-contained with upholstered 1920’s art-deco style armchairs designed to provide an optimal view of the room’s views to south and east.
